AI in Business 101: Save Time & Make More Money

We all know time is money. And when you’re starting a business, every second counts.

AI in business is essential in today’s landscape to not only save time and make money, but compete. Everyone is adopting AI in some way, shape or form, so if you’re not, you’re getting left behind.

Not that long ago, I was like you. I was trying to juggle starting and running a business with kids, home life and trying to maintain some personal time too. It felt impossible. And then I found AI. It has helped me transform my life, spending just minutes on my marketing each month, automating processes and making me money while I am present with my family.

This guide to AI in business will show you how to start a business using AI, how to save time, and most importantly, how to make more money utilising some of my favourite AI tools, including ChatGPT. And if you have any questions, drop me a line as I truly believe every single business owner can use AI to benefit their life.

How to Start a Business

Using AI

Step One: Learn the basics of using AI.

Before you can use AI to help start a business, you need to  first know how to use it. Don’t worry, using AI isn’t as complex as you may think, and there is an AI solution for nearly anything these days. For example, many tasks, like administration, marketing and research can be performed inside AI tools like ChatGPT. Many platforms, like Canva, WordPress and Squarespace, are beginning to integrate AI into their systems to allow you to perform tasks faster than ever before.

AI courses and memberships can also help you learn the basics quickly. My own AI memberships give you the resources and secrets I have used to start and grow a successful business, while raising a young family. There are many out there. It’s simply about finding the right platforms and support for your business.

Step Two: Use AI to help you find your niche.

Many people go into business with an idea, while others know they want the freedom of owning a business or side-hustle, but aren’t sure what. This is where AI can help you find your niche, save time and money to be able to focus on a smaller audience to start and help make growing your business in the beginning a lot easier.

Open up ChatGPT and start by asking what the top, high-performing side hustles or small businesses are. You may want to give it a particular industry or area, like being an online business, using skills in marketing, administration or whatever background you’re from. Once AI gives you an answer, you can ask questions back to help find the perfect niche for you. For example, you may ask ChatGPT to give you a list of businesses to start with a budget of less than $500 or that you can do with kids at home. AI is all about providing personalised answers to whatever you need, so any questions you have, ask away.

Step Three: Learn what you need to do to protect your business.

I know personally there feels like there are a million things to know when starting your business, like how to register it, getting yourself organised for tax time and your obligations. While it’s always wise to consult professionals for tailored advice, you can use ChatGPT or your chosen AI tool to help you create a checklist for what you need to do to start and protect your business.

For example, you may ask for steps for legally registering your business in your state and country, and ask for recommendations for financially setting yourself up. This will help you get started and save time on the hours of research it can take to learn this information. Before I discovered AI, I know I spent weeks learning about what I needed to do to register my business and ensure I’m doing all the right things, and AI helped me save so much time when I discovered how to use it for this!

Step Four: Research your market.

AI chat tools and AI research tools can help you research and segment your audience. By segmenting your audience, you can refine your marketing and efforts to get more effective results. And by using AI, you’re saving time and money to research who your ideal audience actually are, based on data, and not just who you may think.

There are many AI tools to research your marketing, from search engine optimisation software to AI chat tools. For beginners, starting with ChatGPT will give you the basic information you need, like which keywords to target, the top people who buy those products and examples of how to target them in your marketing and business. Once you have this information, you can use AI to help you save time building your website and start your marketing.

Step Five: Have AI help with building a website.

A website is a very important part of your business, even more so if you’re selling online. AI can help you choose the best website for your type of business and goal (like ranking on search engines), as well as building your website. Some website platforms even have AI tools, like content assistants and image generators, built into them to save you even more time. But let’s look at some ways I’ve personally used AI to build my website.

For your first website, choose a template from your website builder that you find appealing. Then, use AI to help you write content. With your information from your AI-driven research, go page by page, asking for search engine and user-experience driven content focusing on the keywords you selected. This will be a good place to start for your website, and will ensure you get your site up and running quickly. You can optimise your site along the way, again, which AI can help you with in your growth phase.

Step Six: Tap into an AI-driven marketing plan.

So, you have your business idea, your startup checklist, know your audience and have built a basic website. It’s time to start marketing your business! In the beginning, you may have plenty of time to focus on your marketing, but as time goes on, and you get more and more busy, AI will become a crucial member of your business and marketing team.

When you first start marketing your business, input your audience and business research into ChatGPT or chosen AI tool, and ask for it to create a 3-month starter marketing plan, including best platforms, posts, post content and more. You can make scripts for videos, captions, hashtags and more. Be as specific as you like to get the most personalised responses. Then, it’s a case of inputting the information, scheduling your marketing and you’re good to go! I have been using AI to save me hours of time each week on my own marketing, creating useful content that also helps me grow. It works.

5 Ways Using AI in a Business Can Help You Save Time & Make Money

One: Automate repetitive tasks.

Part of running a business is often repetitive tasks, like emails and reports, that take a lot of time, but are essential. The good news is, AI can be used to automate repetitive tasks, like these, and save time, giving you more chances to make more money.

There are many different ways and tools to automate repetitive tasks. To start, make a list of tasks you do daily, weekly and monthly. Input this list into ChatGPT and ask for ways ChatGPT can help automate these tasks, repetitive emails and other processes, or tools to help you do so. You can ask for specific step-by-step instructions to make it very easy. Even if you need code to implement an automation, you can have ChatGPT write this code. See, I wasn’t kidding when I said there are no limits to AI and ChatGPT!

Two: Enhance decision making.

One of the best ways to use AI to save time and make money is to help you make decisions, especially when faced with many options or large amounts of data. For example, if you’re weighing up the pros and cons of different types of marketing platforms, you can input your audience and business, and have ChatGPT make a table with pros and cons for each recommended platform with a summarised statement.

Using AI for decision making isn’t just for marketing either. You can input financial data or customer trends and ask for a risk assessment or projection cross analysed with market trends. If you’re stuck on any issues, regardless of what it is, it’s worth popping it into ChatGPT or an alternative AI tool and seeing what it has to say to help you get more ideas.

Three: Further insights.

Speaking of more ideas, ChatGPT and AI is great for gaining further insight. Particularly if you work on your own, you can use ChatGPT to brainstorm ideas or even act as another person to have a conversation back and forth with.

Say you made your own content plan for the next month on Instagram. You can input your plan and ask ChatGPT to optimise this for your audience and business, adding more relevant hashtags, proofing content or even giving you more ideas for things you may have not thought of. And this is just one of the many, many ways you can use AI to brainstorm and get more info. I give hundreds of ideas and templates in my AI memberships, and can even help you with 1:1 coaching to help you create a money-making strategy.

Four: Fill skill gaps.

What average person is incredible at writing content, code, generating custom graphics, building marketing plans, analysing data or knows everything there is to know about business, finance, law and other business topics? AI can help you fill these skill gaps, especially in those early startup days when the budget is tight.

Here are some skills AI, particularly ChatGPT, can help you fill (and I have personally used and can attest for):

  • Writing code.

  • Content and copywriting.

  • Providing contract templates.

  • Writing processes and checklists.

  • Creating marketing plans.

  • Helping with creating onboarding schedules.

And more. Anything you need, you don’t know how to do and can’t access a professional, see if ChatGPT can help you.

Five: Use AI chatbots.

Website live chat can more than double your sales and enquiries. But who has time to answer all those enquiries? AI does.

AI chatbots work in two ways:

  1. By having users select different options and answer based on those selections.

  2. By answering in a generic, human-like way for basic enquiries.

Either method is very effective, and can even be set up using your Facebook Business Messenger integrated into your website. You can even use ChatGPT to help you build out your options to best help your customers and lead them to enquire or buy.

How Can AI Help

in Different Industries?

AI in Finance

Working in finance means handling a lot of data. Researching, organising and analysing this data can be a big part of your job, taking up precious hours you could spend on helping more clients, making you more money.

Top ways to use ChatGPT and AI in finance:

  • Initial research for new clients, particularly for finance businesses who help other businesses to find relevant information for their industry.

  • Annotating or summarising data, including simplifying complex statements to help clients gain a greater understanding.

  • Gaining market insights based on data given on specific goals, risks and market conditions.

  • Creating risk assessments for different options.

  • Reviewing documents and emails for any inconsistencies or errors.

AI in Law

The law is notorious for big long documents with endless streams of information. Even finding specific information you need or drafting your own documents can take hours, days or even weeks, depending on what you’re working on. AI can help you cut time to produce more effective results.

Top ways to use ChatGPT and AI in law:

  • Researching legal cases, concepts and laws across multiple areas, states and countries.

  • Drafting legal documents and emails.

  • Assisting with proofing documents, including simplifying them for clients.

  • Summarising large amounts of content into key takeaways or data lists.

  • Re-writing legal jargon and terms to help clients better understand them.

AI in Marketing

If you work in marketing, I don’t need to tell you how much time you spend on making plans, researching and endless amounts of writing and data sorting. Using AI in marketing can help marketing agencies, or even business owners trying to do their own marketing, get started on their campaigns and projects to save bucketloads of time.

Top ways to use ChatGPT and AI in marketing:

  • Generating content and copy for different platforms and purposes.

  • Creating marketing plans and strategies.

  • Drafting email marketing flows and copy.

  • Conducting market research for different industries.

  • Suggesting keywords, A/B tests and customer segmentations.

  • Analysing competitors.

AI in Automotive

How can AI help someone who works in the automotive industry? It may not seem like one plus one equals two in this situation, but trust me, any industry can use AI and ChatGPT to speed up their processes and make money.

Top ways to use ChatGPT and AI in automotive:

  • Recommending parts or diagnosing problems when diagnostic tools aren’t providing a solution.

  • Finding specific instructions for vehicles you don’t regularly work on.

  • Writing templates for common customer emails, particularly technical questions to help admin teams.

  • Generating content for marketing.

Outside of ChatGPT, there are AI tools to create digital showrooms, managing fleets and stock levels, onboarding staff — anything you can think of, it exists somewhere.

AI in Hair & Beauty

As a hairdresser or someone in the beauty industry, you want to spend as much time on the tools, not writing emails, creating marketing or sending reminders to clients. AI can help automate your bookings and reminder workflows, get information from customers about what they are looking for, and even keep your marketing doing while you work.

Top ways to use ChatGPT and AI in hair and beauty:

  • Researching new products to benefit specific services.

  • Answering client FAQ to add to your marketing or website, or even add to automated emails.

  • Finding lists of ingredients in products for clients with allergies or sensitivities.

  • Creating client retention workflows.

  • Creating marketing plans.

  • Researching latest trends online (including TikTok and Pinterest) to use in your own marketing.
